I have this reg that I got with a used palmers, The marker is very new but I think the reg is an oldish model. It's a male reg, but instead of laser etching it has the palmer's sticker and at the bottem where I understand there should be a slot to open up the bottom, there is nothing. Just a flat bottom other than the adjustment screw. It has been leaking from the relief hole, so I wanted to get a look at the orings but I have no idea how to get it open.

You will need a 3/8-24 nut and bolt. Tighten the nut and bolt onto the cap then use two wrenches to back out the assembly. Keep the nut tight on the cap while you back out the bolt.

Ok, I'm a little confused. The cap being the bottom part? Are they left hand threads?

Nope, normal threads. You just need to be kind of sneaky to unscrew the cap.
So, you've got a Stabilizer or Rock with no nickel slot on the end cap. No worries, you just have to be more inventive in getting it off.
You need a length of 3/8-24 threaded rod, and two nuts of the same thread. Thread both nuts onto the rod with a little space between them. Leave about 1/4" between the end of the rod and the first nut.
Take out the regulator adjustment screw, and thread the short end of the rod in until the nut is flush with the end cap. Tighten the first nut against the end cap. Now, tighten the second nut down on top of the first. This will prevent the first from loosening.
Fit a wrench to the first(the one touching the end cap) nut, and turn it counter clockwise while holding the reg body. Since the first nut is being held against the cap by the second, the whole assembly should unscrew.
This will allow you access to the internals.

Okay, one last question: It has been leaking from the vent hole, I read in another thread I should change the plunger oring. Would it be advisable to check/replace the other orings, and is the rest of the dissasemly the same as the newer model?

The seals are sold in a seal kit from PPS. If you've got it open you can change them all.
I don't remember much about the rest of the disassembly, other than it's some size socket on an extension. It's been a while since I've had needed to change one.

I didn't get the seal kit, I just found the right size oring at Ace. Assuming there was only one problem with the reg it was deffinatly the oring causing issues. It was the sorriest, most shreaded oring I've ever see. I'll try it out tommorrow and see if I've fixed it or not. Thanks to jwigum and palmerpursuit for the help.

Just adding to the FAQ.
Stab repair should be any easy fix if you can get the cap off.
Method 1.
Send the reg back
Method 2.
Use a nickel and a pair of vise grips, the wider the jaw the better. Clamp at least 75% of the coin in the saws.
Method 3.
Buy a new cap and screw $10 then, Use an "Easy Out" to get the cap off. They are guaranteed to damage the adjustment threads.
Or below method; wont damage threads but will scar the face of the cap.
Method 4.
You will need a 3/8-24 nut and bolt. Tighten the nut and bolt onto the cap then use two wrenches to back out the assembly (both nut and bolt). Keep the nut tight on the cap while you back out the bolt.
