View Full Version : Adjustable collar stabilizer.

I'd like an adjustable twist collar input port for the male stabilizer. This way I can align the input port in a cleaner fashion in orientation to the output port. Maybe a dual oring sleeve that can be twisted in the stab.
Also a collar on the male ASA. It would be helpful to put a collar on the male ASA threads to get a snug fit and position the input where I want it and not rely on the final position the stabilizer sits in the female ASA adapter.

I'm sure you're aware of this, but I'll regurgitate it for posterity. :)
Your Stabilizer will 'seal in place' once you air up your gun. You do not have to screw it all the way in to your ASA to get a seal.
This allows you to screw in the male Stabilizer until the ports are aligned the way you like.
Additionally, some people put an O-ring at the base of the threads on the Stabilizer to take up the slack, and some people put an O-ring up inside the ASA before screwing the Stabilizer onto the gun.
In either case, you're only eliminating the 'slop' when there's no air on the gun.

The input and output ports are still 180 degrees from each other though.

How would a rotating collar change that?

Sorry about not being clear enough.
Right now I don't use the ASA section on my male stab. But I use both the 1/8 ports. Though both are back to back, they are 180 degrees for each other. This limits orienation between the two ports.
It would be nice for it to have a collar to rotate one of the 1/8 ports to where you want it. Even better if you can rotate both.

Hmmmmm...
So then you are suggesting an entirely new Stab design with moving/rotating input and output ports?
Cool idea... don't hold your breath though. ;)

Maybe an inline or sideline would work better for your purpose?

I looked at both. Sideline no go. Inline was borderline, but no different than my male stab. Problem is the traditional output is where I want the guage and the secondary output that is normally ther guage is where I'd have the output. And I'm still stuck with the input and output ports 180 degrees from each other.
Palmer offers the most regulators in different configurations. Which is really nice. But each configuration is static.

Here's an option:
Get a direct stabilizer. It has the side input like a male, a gauge output 180° from the input, but a 1/8NPT output. Screw a 90° elbow on the output at the top then you can tighten it down to whichever direction you want. It won't looks quite as clean as a rotating collar stab thing, but it is an actual possibility that exists now.
